ch-Nancy Cockburn2 Nancy Cockburn, BRLS, RMT

I graduated from Brock University in 1993 with a Bachelor Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies. I then completed my Massage Therapy training at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, working for 5 years in British Columbia before moving back to Ontario. After 21 years working as an RMT in various clinic settings, I have come to recognize the many facets of life that affect an individual’s health and wellbeing. I have also developed a strong respect for the nervous system and how it reacts or over-reacts to different types of stressors including trauma, second-hand trauma, stress and disease processes. I enjoy communicating with this system and realize that there is a strong need for this type of work in our busy and unsettled society. My assessments and treatment plans take this into account and help me to support my clients on their healing path.

I draw from my training in Swedish Massage and Hydrotherapy, Craniosacral Therapy (Upledger), Myofascial Release(Myers), and from my training as a Trauma-informed yoga teacher (CYT 225 trained by Caroline Owens in the discipline of Hatha Yoga from the lineage of T.Krishnamacharya) Aside from my clinical work, I am also a Certified Massage in Schools Provider (Massage in Schools Association International). I provide treatments for all ages and I am also available to work in the clinic 1:1 developing individual self care practices (yoga,
self massage, breathwork, meditation). I can also work with school groups in the classroom (Massage in Schools Program, Yoga or Relaxation Education).

Please feel free to contact me by email at nancycockburn@gmail.com if you would like more detailed information about any of these services.
